I just love that we have all former LOONA members creating and releasing bangers. We used to pray for times like this. Now, I did like Yves’s debut album, LOOP. Specifically, “DIORAMA” and “LOOP (feat. Lil Cherry)”, but I didn’t talk about it because it dropped around my birthday and was on holiday. But I did check it out later.

So when I started seeing talk about Yves’s comeback on Twitter (her personal Insta, and her company’s Twitter, btw), I was hyped. I’ve talked about Yves being one of my favorite LOONA members, and I had hoped her solo music would be similar to “New“. Fortunately for me, she did, and I’d argue expanded on that sound with her solo music under PAIX PER MIL. So let’s get into it.

The aesthetics for this album are fantastic. I love how editorial and artsy they are. This is another album I need to have my hands on.

“Viola” is such an earworm. I can’t get “I just need some space, space, space” out of my head, omg it’s so catchy. The use of autotune is perfect. Not too overbearing, gone before you really have a chance to acknowledge it. Yves’s voice sounds amazing.

There’s so much going on in the first couple of seconds of this video. The looks in this video are so cute. I want everything here. The heavy blush look is everything. Her hairstyles, man, 10/10. It’s a minimal setup set wise, but it gives an opportunity for everything else to shine. It’s also got that futuristic Y2K vibe going on that I love.

Hashtag” has a similar vibe to “Viola” but in a perfect b-side to it. Not a part two. It’s my second favorite song on I Did after “Viola”. “Gone Girl” slows things down and reminds me a bit of LOOP‘s sound (“Diorama” in particular), in the best way. Like a continuation of that sound. I like that. It’s a chill song. But not “Goldfish” slow.

I love that we got a video for “Tik Tok”. It’s so cute. I love these walking around cities, sightseeing and eating videos. “Tik Tok” is another chill, café like song. Pink hair on Yves is so cute and her makeup for this video, along with her outfit, all work together so well. I need that leopard print cowboy hat.

DIM” is the last song on the album. And it’s another winner. I like the cohesiveness of this album. LOOP naturally had a bit more variety going on, like a sampler at a restaurant, and I liked that. But I like when there’s more balance and I Did feels more honed in. In LOOP‘s defense, it did have one song less than I Did.

So that’s why I think it feels short. Like we just got going good and now it’s over. But I’m incredibly impressed with Yves’s solo work, and I’m so excited for what’s next.

But what are y’alls thoughts on I Did and “Viola”? Do you have it on repeat as well? Tell me all your thoughts in the comments below. Next up is Mr. Minho and CALL BACK. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Threads, & BlueSky.

Take care!
