miss A is a group I think if I had known about a bit earlier, I would have been more of a fan of. I knew about their biggest hit, “Bad Girl Good Girl” due to the boy group cover with Minhyuk (MONSTA X), Youngjae and Minhyuk(BTOB), and Bambam (GOT7). People really love covering this song, lol. There’s plenty of them to watch on YouTube.

I remember listening to their 7th and final album, Colors, once after “Only You”. Pandora played a lot of their older music. But I didn’t put together that I had been listening to them before “Only U”. I first heard “Time’s Up“, “Hush“, and “I Don’t Need a Man” on Pandora’s Kpop stations. “Only U” is my favorite song of theirs, so when I saw 2025 was going to be the 10-year ani for it, I knew this was my opportunity to cover it on ATK. I’ve been wanting to cover it for ages.

Because Suzy was my favorite member (if I see a member of a group, and we’re the same age, they’re likely going to be either my bias or somewhere in the top of my fave members list), I actually knew more about her and her activities outside miss A. Which, I think many people can relate to that, lol. She definitely surpassed the popularity of miss A and became bigger than the group itself.

I love her solo music, although you certainly have to be into ballads and jazzier Korean music. I don’t think I’ve actually watched any of her acting work. I’m so bad at watching TV series. But I have watched a few variety shows she’s been on. I used to follow her activities more, but there’s always so much going on in Kpop. You can’t stan and keep up with everyone.

So let’s officially start this #10YearsAgoToday article with a brief introduction to miss A for those who aren’t as familiar with the group. miss A was a four member Korean-Chinese group made up of Fei (main vocalist), Jia (main rapper, lead dancer and vocalist), Min (main dancer, lead vocalist, and lead rapper), and Suzy (lead vocalist, sub-rapper, visual, face of the group and maknae). The group debuted July 1st 2010 under JYPE (JYP Entertainment). Their image is essentially the “strong woman” concept/character type. Very independent with songs and performances to go along with that image.

Jia left the group in May 2016, and Min left in November 2017 after her contract with JYPE ended. On December 26, 2017, it was announced miss A had disbanded. And now the girls are active in their native countries.

“Only You” maaaan what a song. Banger of a song. I wish they had other songs like this in their discography, but they don’t. Truly a one and done moment. “Only You(다른 남자 말고 너)” is one of those instant earworm songs. I love the chorus has “다른 남자 말고 너” throughout it. So again, easy Korean learning going on here.

Black Eyed Pilseung, of course. Of course, it’s one of my fave production duos behind this one. I can hear it now that I know for sure it’s them behind the hit.

In the music video, you get a bit of a plot. It starts out with miss A getting dressed and I think one of the 2PM members watching them with binoculars… Anyway, then they go out and go to this party.

There’s a scene where the girls walk past a coffee shop and (baby) Bang Chan (Stray Kids) is sitting outside the shop as an extra in a black and white gingham shirt and black beanie.

There’s a girl he’s sitting with in the first shot, then it swaps to a guy in the next scene, then it’s Min to join the rest of the girls for the chorus. Why was Chan meeting with so many people for this scene, lmao.

But I love these Easter eggs like this. I love when companies put trainees at the time as music video extras. The choreo is good. The outfits aren’t outstanding but I like them. The pink look is my fave then the blue group look.

“One Step” is the first song we get on Colors. I really like it. I think on my first listen of Colors, I was disappointed they didn’t have more upbeat dance songs like “Only You” on the album. So I wasn’t feelin this one at the time. Now I can appreciate it for doing its own thing.

“Stuck” was written by Min, and it’s my second favorite b-side on Colors. Actually, the only other song on Colors I’ll revisit. It’s a bit faster paced then “One Step”. I like this softer side of miss A a lot. It’s good to see the duality of groups. Especially when they’re known to have a certain image. It shows there’s more to them, just like there’s more than one side to everyone.

Colors has six songs on it in total. And the sound of it is pretty consistent. I listened to their other albums while working on this article. And miss A has always had a consistent sound throughout their albums. Nothing sounds out of place for what they were doing at the time.

I didn’t check to see how involved with lyrics, music, and arrangement in their previous works, but Colors feels like there was a lot of time put into making it the best it could be. On the Wiki page, Min and Jia talked about why it took so long for the group to come back between Hush (2013) and Colors (2015), and it was because it took longer than expected to find songs that would fit. For a final album, that I don’t think was necessarily intended to be the final, it’s pretty solid. I highly recommend checking out the rest of Colors if you enjoy “Only You”.

But what are y’alls thoughts on miss A, Colors, and “Only You”? Who’s your fave member of the group? Tell me everything in the comments below. Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter, Instagram, Threads, & BlueSky.

Take care!
