Quick Thoughts: GFRIEND – Season of Memories

Aw, yeah, we’re back!! I started doing some small tasks for ATK while on my break. Nothing major like actual writing or looking for pictures. But other behind the scenes work. Yesterday I intended to have the Fave Songs article up after my GFRIEND binge.

I started my binge with “Season of Memories” since I saw it was out, and it was one of the first things I saw on Spotify when I opened the app. I was not disappointed.

I don’t know why I thought GFRIEND would kick things off with a boring ballad. I blame Lovelyz and fromis_9 for that, lol. I’m so happy they didn’t. Season of Memories is a special album for their 10-year anniversary since their debut. Absolutely wild to think about. Source Music has been doing a decent job with everything so far. There’s a new version of the lightstick.

I think it looks pretty cute. They have a special version of the album called ‘glass bead’ after their debut song. It looks like it’s a snow globe.

And the concert merch is cute too. I love them leaning into the winter wonderland vibes. I’m obsessed with this photoshoot for it as well. My favorite of the concepts so far.

The more they release, the more excited I get. I wish they were coming to the US as well on this tour, but oh well. Maybe if this sells well, they’ll extend the tour to the west. But let’s get back to “Season of Memories” the prerelease. I’ll talk more about the visuals for the album in the Quick Thoughts or Review article on the album itself.

Idk which it’ll be right now. I try to keep Quick Thoughts under 700 words. Like 400 – 700. Anything over 1,000 is a full on review, lol. And I have that figured out around 700 or so words that yeah I’m going over, or I’m close to wrapping it up. So keep an eye out on Twitter because that’s where I post updates on the site first.

Oh, I love this song. It’s sounds like we’re picking up right from where “MAGO” ended. I’m glad I waited to release the Fave Songs article because this song as easily earned a spot on the list. I still will likely end up amending it once this album drops, but the point is to showcase their older songs anyway.

I love how up beat the song is. The instrumentals really remind me of the party vibe on Walpurgis Night, even after my deep dive back through their discography, it’s still my favorite album of theirs. I wrote a music video fashion article about it years ago. That was back before I did album reviews like I do now. Now, I just dedicate a section in that article to talk about the styling. I hardly make separate articles dedicated just to the fashion anymore.

So I have high expectations now that I got a sample of what’s to come with the rest of Season of Memories. I feel like we’re going to a mix of old school GFRIEND like “Glass Bead”, “Rough”, with more of their ‘newer’ sound. I hope there’s one slower song like “Trust” or “FALLING ASLEEP AGAIN” on there to go with the cold weather concept. But I’m impressed with what we’ve gotten so far.

I did get a bit dizzy with the Studio Choom performance because of the camera work going on. It felt incredibly fast-paced. I was tempted to slow the speed down on the video.

The girls look spectacular. I love the styling. I can’t decide whose outfit I like more. They’re pretty similar, so I think that’s why I’m stuck. I love Eunha’s lilac hair. It’s so heartwarming to see them all together again dancing. The last scene with them holding hands had me tearing up.
